The How
Inspired by the rise of AI and the differing opinions on its validity as a medium – or legitimacy as a tool – each work began as a text-only prompt, with no image references used at any time in its creation. Elements commonly found in generative art, like flow fields, were mimicked with directional prompts to create a semblance of movement, and each theme contained unique elements associated with the theme’s focal topic.
Each theme’s images were not simply variations of one “successful” generation. Rather, base prompts were adapted within each theme development cycle and re-run, resulting in a broad diversity of images with varying degrees of accord or discord within each Theme.
Every image was then upscaled to allow for clean, large-format, high-quality physical printing, and hand edited (and in some cases embellished with hand-drawn elements). Select pieces were then animated to enhance the work’s impact and/or message, and to take advantage of the unique opportunities that digital art provides.
